Samantha’s Heart for Counseling:

I am so grateful to be in this healing profession, where I have the opportunity to sit with others and meet them where they are. I hope to embody warmth, empathy and hope in our sessions. I find that there is power in bringing light to our struggles and desires for change and there is goodness in sharing what is going on in our bodies and minds with
another person.

I believe in not only a heavily strength-based approach, but I also believe in having a relational approach with my clients. I desire each person with whom I sit with, to know that they are deeply loved and cared for. I want to provide a space for others to be genuinely heard and let others know that they are allowed to take up space.

Samantha’s Style:

My style in counseling is a heavily strength-based approach, specifically using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

I also believe that overall wellness not only stems from our mental health, but our physical, spiritual and emotional health as well! If faith is something that is important to you, I would love to in cooperate that into sessions to the extent that you are comfortable with.

Special Training:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Certified
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Trained
Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Experience:

I have experience in perinatal and maternal mental health as well as crisis work in a community mental health setting. When working with expecting mothers in my community, I found a deep sense of gratefulness in meeting with them and providing not only parental resources and classes but also sitting with them and hearing their story
week to week and providing a space where these mothers in my community could feel heard and valued. I have had the privilege to build on-going relationships over-time with these clients and it is a work, I have greatly valued.

When working in a community mental health setting, I have led substance use groups with teenagers and older adults as well as worked in a crisis mental health unit that works closely with hospitals in the area providing emergency mental health assessments to ensure clients are receiving the best treatment possible.
